Plant in San Giuliano Milanese

Liquid waste management

This plant currently has 17 steel tanks, all positioned above ground and fixed on quartz waterproofed concrete base and HDPE shield in order to ensure the integrity of the subsoil.

The tanks are equipped with a closed-circuit system and accessories that allow: the handling and sampling of the product content and conducting temperature controls. The tanks are also equipped with an automatic cooling system that allows the drainage and breathing, during the handling phases, as well as with a relief valve equipped with a special pollution treatment system.

All liquid waste management activities, concerning both packaged and/or in tanker trucks, to and from the tanks, are carried out with the help of a plc and a dedicated management software; an expert chemist controls all the process and uses our modern laboratory for accurate chemical and physical characterization of materials.

Technique and competence

Thanks to our modern facilities and the expertise of our highly qualified operators, Mecomer ensures its customers that their solid and liquid waste is managed in strict compliance with the highest safety standards and in full compliance with the specific characteristics of the treatment tools, whether for physico-chemical treatment or energy recovery.

Solid waste management

All activities for the management of hazardous and non-hazardous solid waste, whether it is for recovery or disposal, are carried out under the constant supervision of our plant chemists, who control every single processing area to guarantee both the correct performance of treatment operations and the safeguard of the health and safety of the operators.

Treatment operations

Solid waste can be subject to operations of processing, mixing/amalgamation of homogeneous materials inside driveable containers or 200 litre drums or 1m³ bulk, packaging/packaging, manual sorting, volumetric adjustment through a compacting press, volumetric reduction using a shredder and managed both packaged and loose depending on the specific requirements of the final plants to whom the exact correspondence to the delivery specifications is always guaranteed.

Security systems

The plant is equipped with a modern and effective fire-fighting system. Besides, the following systems significantly increase the safety level of the entire industrial complex: automatic fire alarm system connected to sectorial sprinkler systems with automatic or manual extinguishers, monitoring poles, portable and wheeled fire extinguishers, hydrants, foam tanks and pumping stations, properly qualified and well trained and skilled staff.

Extension

Mecomer’s new industrial development project is the result of a careful technical design aimed at combining the improvement of waste management capabilities, both liquid and solid, with the highest safety standards.

Development

In light of a substantial increase in the current storage capacity, the new extension concerns the following:

  • New closed-circuit tank farm and an inerting system using nitrogen which, in addition to the existing one, significantly increases the storage capacity for hazardous liquid waste
  • A new shredding plant for hazardous solid waste equipped with a sophisticated nitrogen blowing system to prevent the risk of fire and explosion risks
  • New atex processing areas for packaged hazardous liquid waste
  • Areas for the processing of bulk solid waste

Our plants cover an area of over 30,000 square meters and they are equipped with modern facilities and the best available technologies for special hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.

Plant in Milan

A storage facility at the roots of our history

This plant is located in the southern area of Milan, in Via San Dionigi 105, and covers an area of approximately 2,000 square meters. This facility is equipped with efficient material handling equipment and all safety systems required and it continues to be used, with its storage areas and nine storage tanks, for both liquid and solid hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
